We welcome original articles from kabayans and allies who want to share stories with the Filipino-Australian community. Volunteer pieces are unpaid but published with full credit — your byline and a short author bio appear on every story.
What we publish
- TopicsNews, culture, lifestyle, community events, profiles, settlement stories, Filipino-Australian experiences.
- Original onlyNo plagiarism. Attribute every quote and fact to its source.
- Plain EnglishClear, concise, scannable. Short paragraphs. Subheadings where they help. Active voice.
- Length600–1,000 words is the sweet spot. Shorter is fine if the story warrants it.
- AccuracyFact-check everything. Link primary sources. Names spelled correctly.
- ImagesWelcome — but only if you have rights to use them. Credit the photographer.
- ToneInclusive and respectful. Lead with empathy. Read a few of our stories first to feel the voice.
- Not for promotionVolunteer articles can't double as ads for businesses, products, or services. That's the sponsored-post lane.
How to submit
- Read a few recent stories Browse /news/ to feel our voice and the kinds of pieces we run.
- Draft your article Word document or Google Doc link. Include subheadings and short paragraphs. Cite your sources.
- Email it to us Send to info@kababayanconnect.com.au with your name, contact info, and a 1–2 sentence author bio. Attach images separately if you have them.
- Editorial review Our team reviews and may suggest edits for clarity and grammar. We'll loop you in before publishing.
- Goes live with your byline Your article publishes on Kababayan Connect with full credit. We'll share it on our community channels too.
